Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), the UAE’s second-biggest sharia compliant bank, attracts deposits and offers consumer, corporate, and investment banking services.
The bank, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, finances the purchase of automobiles, real estate and capital equipment, offers letters of credit, sponsors investment funds, and offers property management and evaluation services.
ADIB, founded in 1997, has a network of more than 20 branches in Abu Dhabi, plus several branches in Sharjah. It also has women-only branches in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
ADIB is listed on the Abu Dhabi Security Exchange. The bank’s founders – including members of the ruling family and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) – hold 39 percent of the bank’s equity. The remaining 61 percent is held by around 100,000 shareholders. |
